The annual Kartik Purnima fair at Mohara Shivnath riverbank will take place from November 4 to 6, with the Municipal Corporation making extensive arrangements for security, sanitation, drinking water, and lighting to ensure a well-organized event.
Rajnandgaon: To strengthen city cleanliness ahead of upcoming festivals and the Vice President’s visit, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav and Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma conducted a field inspection at Ganj Chowk, Hat Bazaar, Udayachal, and Mohara Mela ground. They instructed officials to ensure regular sanitation, maintain public toilets, remove roadside debris, and take action against encroachments.
Rajnandgaon Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma inspected Ganesh idol-making workshops to enforce the ban on Plaster of Paris. Artisans confirmed use of eco-friendly clay, and officials were instructed to monitor all sites to ensure compliance.
To streamline traffic and improve pedestrian movement in Rajnandgaon’s commercial areas, the district administration removed illegal encroachments from Gudakhu Line and Azad Chowk following prior notices and meetings with traders. Goods placed outside shops were seized, and extended sheds were dismantled as part of the ongoing anti-encroachment campaign.
Rajnandgaon Mayor Madhusudan Yadav conducted an early morning visit to several worker-dominated wards including Nawagaon, Babutola, and Sethinagar to interact with residents regarding water supply and cleanliness concerns. He assured that the cleaning of public wells will commence shortly, and directed prompt solutions to water pump failures. The Mayor also met athletes at Sarveshwar Das School ground and congratulated students embarking on an educational tour to the Chhattisgarh Assembly.
Under the ‘Mor Makan Mor Aas’ initiative, a component of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), long-term tenants in Rajnandgaon are now being offered their own permanent homes at affordable, government-determined rates. With 1,282 multi-storey houses fully constructed in areas like Lakhouli, Pendri, Mohara, and Rewadeeh, and another 648 units under various stages of construction, the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation is set to conduct a lottery on 15 May 2025 to allocate these homes.
