13,500 करोड़ रुपये के PNB घोटाले के प्रमुख आरोपी मेहुल चोकसी को बेल्जियम के एंटवर्प में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। भारत सरकार की अपील पर 11 अप्रैल 2025 को हुई गिरफ्तारी के बाद चोकसी जेल में बंद है और स्वास्थ्य कारणों का हवाला देकर जमानत की कोशिश कर रहा है। चोकसी के वकील भारत में जेल की अमानवीय स्थिति का हवाला देते हुए संजय भंडारी केस का उदाहरण दे रहे हैं, जिसमें लंदन की अदालत ने भारत प्रत्यर्पण से इनकार किया था। चोकसी ने यह भी तर्क दिया है कि उसे अभी तक भारत सरकार द्वारा 'भगोड़ा आर्थिक अपराधी' घोषित नहीं किया गया है। चोकसी की कोशिश है कि भंडारी केस के आधार पर उसे भी बेल्जियम से भारत प्रत्यर्पित न किया जाए।

13,500 करोड़ रुपये के PNB घोटाले का मुख्य आरोपी और भगोड़ा हीरा कारोबारी मेहुल चोकसी को बेल्जियम के एंटवर्प शहर में गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है। भारत सरकार की अपील पर 11 अप्रैल 2025 को उसे हिरासत में लिया गया। चोकसी ने जमानत के लिए स्वास्थ्य कारणों का हवाला देते हुए याचिका दायर की है, लेकिन भारत सरकार उसके प्रत्यर्पण की कोशिशों में तेजी से जुटी हुई है। चोकसी के खिलाफ मुंबई कोर्ट के दो अरेस्ट वारंट पहले से ही जारी हैं। इस घोटाले में उसका भतीजा नीरव मोदी भी आरोपी है, जो फिलहाल लंदन में है।
