On the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Good Governance Day was observed in Rajnandgaon with a district-level pediatric cardiac screening camp held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Medical College Hospital. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said timely screening and surgery would help children with congenital heart disease lead healthy lives, with free treatment arranged for around 45 identified cases at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Nava Raipur.

The Health Department has sealed the gynecology operation theatre of Shukla Multi-Speciality Hospital in Rajnandgaon until further orders following the death of a female patient during treatment. The deceased, identified as Mrs. Daupadi Sahu from Rivagahan village in Balod district, had undergone a hysterectomy at the hospital last month. A five-member inquiry committee has been formed to investigate allegations of medical negligence.
