The operation targets fraudulent claims under Section 80GGC related to fake political donations, as well as bogus medical and tuition fee deductions. Despite prior warnings under the “NUDGE” campaign, many failed to update their ITRs, triggering this action. The move highlights the government’s strict stance on transparency and compliance in tax filings.
