Chhattisgarh’s junior boys’ hockey team made a strong start at the 15th Hockey India Junior Men’s National Championship 2025 by defeating Goa 5-1 in Jalandhar. Captain Mohit Nayak scored twice, and Karan Sahu was named Man of the Match. Meanwhile, the junior girls’ team secured a respectable fourth place at the national tournament in Kakinada, showcasing impressive performances throughout.

A workshop aimed at inspiring the vision of ‘Akhand Bharat’ was organized at Government Shivnath Science College under the leadership of the college’s Janbhagidari President and in association with the Hindu Jagran Manch. Addressing the gathering, state organizer Rajesh Bhargava highlighted India’s ancient cultural glory, criticized distorted historical narratives, and urged the youth to dedicate themselves to protecting the nation’s unity, culture, and values. The event saw participation from members of the Janbhagidari Committee, faculty, students, and numerous Hindu Jagran Manch activists.

District Panchayat CEO Suruchi Singh chaired the weekly time-limit meeting at the Collectorate, directing officials to ensure all arrangements for Independence Day celebrations, including stage setup, security, seating, decorations, and drinking water facilities. The final rehearsal will be held on August 13 at 8:40 AM, while a Freedom Run is scheduled for August 14 at 7:20 AM. Singh emphasized adopting e-file operations in all departments and reviewed preparations for the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign. She also instructed departments to gear up for the Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee celebrations, marking 25 years of statehood, with events such as exhibitions, nutrition fairs, and awareness programs. Officials also discussed the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and upcoming camps for issuing income, caste, and residence certificates across villages starting August 20.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh paid tribute to Mamta-Mayee Minimata, recalling her lifelong struggle against social evils and her pioneering role as the first woman MP from Madhya Pradesh in 1952. Speaking at the Mamta-Mayee Minimata Nirvan Diwas, held at Guru Ghasidas Cultural Hall, Dr. Singh administered the oath to newly elected office-bearers of the District Satnami Seva Samiti and announced ₹10 lakh for development works. He lauded Minimata’s work for women’s freedom, education, and progress, her efforts to eradicate untouchability, and her promotion of Guru Ghasidas’s message of equality. The event also honored meritorious students and saw the participation of MLAs, former legislators, and a large gathering from the Satnami community.
