Hareli Tihar, one of Chhattisgarh’s most prominent folk festivals, reflects the state’s deep connection with nature, agriculture, livestock and traditional culture. Celebrated during Shravan Amavasya, the festival features worship of agricultural implements and cattle, gedi riding, traditional games, folk competitions and traditional Chhattisgarhi cuisine.

The Ram Lalla Darshan Special Train departed from Rajnandgaon Railway Station for Ayodhya Dham on August 12, 2026, under the Ram Lalla Darshan Scheme. Mayor Madhusudan Yadav and other public representatives jointly flagged off the train and extended their best wishes to the passengers for a safe and auspicious journey.

Rajnandgaon Mayor Madhusudan Yadav appealed to citizens to celebrate Independence Day with patriotism, enthusiasm and joy by hoisting the Tricolour at their homes, shops, offices and other establishments. The BJP North Mandal launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from the Mayor’s Motipur residence and took a pledge to spread the message of patriotism across the city.

Rajnandgaon Zila Panchayat CEO Durga Prasad Adhikari chaired the weekly time-limit meeting and directed officials to ensure quality disposal of CM Helpline applications and priority resolution of pending e-file cases. The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Har Ghar Tiranga programme from August 9 to 17, the Independence Run on August 14, and progress of various government schemes.
