Chhattisgarh Hockey’s 17th Annual General Meeting was held at the International Hockey Stadium in Rajnandgaon, focusing on strengthening hockey infrastructure, promoting talent, and finalizing venues for upcoming tournaments.
On the occasion of the centenary of Indian Hockey, more than 1,000 matches will be played nationwide on 7 November. In Rajnandgaon, exhibition matches, seminars, and felicitation of senior and international players will be held to honor the sport’s glorious legacy.
Chhattisgarh’s junior boys’ hockey team made a strong start at the 15th Hockey India Junior Men’s National Championship 2025 by defeating Goa 5-1 in Jalandhar. Captain Mohit Nayak scored twice, and Karan Sahu was named Man of the Match. Meanwhile, the junior girls’ team secured a respectable fourth place at the national tournament in Kakinada, showcasing impressive performances throughout.
A one-day selection trial for Chhattisgarh’s sub-junior girls’ hockey team was conducted at the International Hockey Stadium in Rajnandgaon under the guidance of Feroz Ansari, President of Chhattisgarh Hockey. A total of 76 players from recognized districts and institutions participated, with 26 players shortlisted for the upcoming National Championship in Ranchi.
A pivotal meeting led by Chhattisgarh Hockey President Firoz Ansari in Bishrampur laid out a comprehensive roadmap to boost hockey across the Surguja division, with initiatives including grassroots tournaments, infrastructure upgrades, and renewed demand for an AstroTurf stadium.
