Editorial Policy

Purpose & Scope
This policy explains how BT News India conducts its editorial process — from reporting, writing, editing, to publishing — ensuring consistent standards of fairness, transparency, and credibility.

Editorial Independence
Our editorial decisions are made without external pressure. Advertisers, sponsors, or political forces do not influence the content we publish.

Content Sourcing & Verification

  • Reporters and editors use multiple credible sources wherever possible.
  • We cite or link to our sources when feasible.
  • For claims or facts, especially sensitive ones, corroboration is required.
  • When using content from contributors, freelance writers or external sources, attribution is mandatory.

Opinion vs. News

  • News stories are factual, neutral in tone.
  • Opinion pieces or analyses are clearly labeled as such.
  • Guest / opinion writers must disclose affiliations if relevant.

Bylines & Dates
Every article includes: author name, date of original publication, and if updated, date of latest update.

Photos / Media
Where possible, images/videos used will be properly licensed, credited, or used under creative commons with attribution.

Corrections
When errors happen, see our Correction Policy. We commit to prompt, transparent correction.

Sensitive Content
We avoid sensationalism. For sensitive issues (crime cases, health scares, etc.), we handle responsibly, giving fair context, cautioning speculation, and respecting individuals’ dignity.

Conflict of Interest
If we or our authors have any potential conflict (financial, personal, or otherwise), we disclose it clearly.
